While I take a brief overview of his about 10 years leadership of APGA as its National Chairman and the numerous transformational programs and initiatives which made the party so viable and global, I would also say that his performance in the 2014 National Conference can never be overemphasized as his involvement; robust and tactful participation saved ndị Igbo a great deal.
However, the pictures attached are to refresh our minds deeper about how the leadership of Senator Victor Umeh nurtured APGA and made it very attractive across the 36 states of Nigeria and the FCT which inspired people in diaspora to mobilize themselves and invited him to inaugurate and register them.
Consequently, November 13th 2012 remains a remarkable day for many Nigerians living in the UK as the people trooped out in large numbers to receive Chief Victor Umeh and powerful entourage, and to as well, declare their allegiance to the only political party adjudged noble and refuge for the politically discriminated/disenfranchised.
It was the day for the convention of APGA UK Chapter and Chief Sir Victor Umeh had arrived in the company of His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Okorocha (then APGA Governor of Imo State), Rt. Hon. Chinwe Nwebili (then Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly), Sen. Osita Izunaso (Imo State HC), Iyom Uche Ekwunife (then the representative of Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency in the HoR), Chief Udokwu (Ekwueme Ogidi), Sen. Annie Okonkwo, Barr. Ziggy Azike, Chief Martins Agbaso, Chief Okoroafor Anyanwu, Hon Marshall Okafor (State Chairman of APGA in Imo State), Hon Vitalis Anyaebulam (Anambra State Deputy State Chairman), Chief Udokwu (Ekwueme Ogidi), State Working Committee members and Commissioners from the two APGA controlled states. Governor Peter Obi was represented by the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly.
Governor Rochas Okorocha, Sen. Annie Okonkwo (C21 President), Chief Martin Agbaso, Chief Ziggy Azike and Rt. Hon. Chinwe Nwaebili in their respective speeches maintained that APGA will always stand for good governance and wellbeing of the people. Similarly, Gov. Okorocha told all APGA faithful present at the event that APGA is our religion and we don't want leaders that are interested in winning the next election but leaders that are poised to deliver the dividends of democracy to the future generation of Nigerians.
However, the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Sir Victor Umeh in his usual composed manner tasked all party members to work assiduously in promoting the good image of our great party and should not cause anything that will bring disrepute to our great party. He thanked the Chairman of APGA UK, Owelle Onyeka Mbaso, the Chairman of the convention committee, Micheal Udeogba and the entire APGA UK Chapter for using the medium to attract investors to Nigeria. Senator Umeh donated over 1000 membership cards to register them free against the practice of enrolment fee. A unique gesture that is barely witnessed anywhere else.
From that inauguration, APGA under Chief Victor Umeh travel far and wide and birthed vibrant chapters all over the world (USA, Canada, South Africa, Japan, Ghana, Côte de voire, all European countries). I can't forget the efforts of the likes of late Tochukwu Uyanwa, may his soul continue to rest in peace.
Senator Victor Umeh is an enigma! A man who uses emotions and passion in undertaking anything he is convinced would serve the best interest of the common man.
Keep following for more refreshers...
We have come far, too late to backdown.
