Most mentally challenged people are to no harm to anyone as they roam the streets and beg.But a different story was reported yesterday of a mad man who raped his roommate.
A student of the University of Benin popularly know as Uniben was raped by Mr Paul who was reported to have developed metal issues during time.
Peace Daniel who is a student studying law in the university of Benin, Edo state was raped at around 11pm yesterday.It was reported that She stayed in a two bedroom flat with the rapist.Although they both paid for the house and lived in different rooms, they share the same kitchen and bathroom. Mr Daniel started having metal issues earlier this year and was disturbing the whole neighborhood.Other neighbors in the compound advised the young lady to move out of the apartment since her roommate’s mental health is not stable and he might one day harm her.The victim proved stubborn and decided to stay back and pray for him since she is a devoted Christian.
The victim stayed in a separate room far away from he’s.According to her, she noticed him looking at her in a different way yesterday but decided to dead the thought and focus on what she was doing.
The incident happened at 11pm yesterday, Mr Daniel came to her room to seek spiritual advice and seeing him, Miss Peace was happy and relieved.She left to entertain her guest with drinks from the fridge and immediately she entered the room, she was pounced on and her clothes were torn.She claimed to have been screaming but since there is nobody in the house living with them, no one came to her rescue.She fought and was able to escape and alerted people on the streets who came to her rescue and dragged him out beating him mercilessly.
He was dragged on the streets and was almost killed if not for the interference of the police.
The victim is reported to be receiving treatment at UBTH.
