*#Re:Oba-Nnewi-Amichi-Ekwulumili-Unubi-Ezinifite-Uga-Arondizuogu-Okigwe Road…* By Chris Emeka Azubogu*

I wish to bring to the notice of our people that the Federal Government has awarded the project for the completion of above road.

*This road is one of the many projects that has given me sleepless nights, especially whenever I remember the difficulties that people from these communities pass through while commuting on dilapidated portions of the road.*

My question has always been: “How can our projected Industrial Park situated along that axis (Unubi-Akwaihedi-Uga) function without this important road in good stead?”

*Those who have followed developments on the road may recalled that I have been on this project until the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the award of the contract for the project on September 11, 2019. Thereafter, I have continued to follow up to ensure that administrative bottleneck does not stall or limit the project to paper only.*

To the glory of God, after my last meeting with the Honourable Minister for Works and Administrative Heads within the Ministry, I can authoritatively say that it has been awarded and I appreciate FEC and all those that contributed to this in one way or the other.

*I have always believed that projects like this one needs Legislative/Executive engagement and I am happy at point we are.*

*Part of the award letter read:*

"I am pleased to inform you that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its meeting held on Wednesday, 11th September, 2019, approved the award of Contract for the Rehabilitation of Outstanding Sectors of Oba-Nnewi-Arondizuogu-Okigwe Road in Anambra/Imo States Contract No.6628 in favour of your company (Messrs IIC Construction Company Limited/WiZ China Worldwide Engineering Limited) in the sum of N12,752,627,088.89( Twelve Billion, Seven Hundred and Fifty-two million, six hundred and Twenty-seven thousand, Eight-eight Naira, Eighty-nine kobo) inclusive of all taxes, with a completion period of Eighteen (18) months..."

*Currently, yours truly is pushing hard and pulling all strings to ensure that the Contractor moves to site. In this regards, I have started reaching out to all necessary parties.*

I wish to continue to plead with our people and all users of this ever important road who have had to endure great difficulties over the years on the failed portions to exercise a little more patience in the hope that all will be well soon. Thank you for your patience.

*I recall that during my re-election campaign for the third time in 2019, the peoples of Ekwulumili and Unubi constantly reminded me of the very bad state of the road; some even erroneously accused me of deliberately stalling my push for the rehabilitation of the stretch after Amichi, while abandoning the Unubi and Ekwulumili axis.*

*Do you blame them? I told myself that these people elected me for results and NOT excuses.* I reminded myself that the people don't care what I am going through in Abuja to attract projects for them; that what they desire are RESULTS and that I have to get the results. Period!

*I have been assuring them that I will continue to strive to see that the Federal Government completes the project which will extend to Aguata and Imo State, while providing easy access into and from Orumba South.*

Meanwhile, I had a very important Zoom Meeting on our Industrial Park Project with critical stakeholders on ealier in the week,Monday.

*The Industrial Park is projected to produce 25,000 direct Jobs and over 100,000 indirect jobs.*

Come with me, let's build a system that can solve her problems.
